Grade One Grammarians in Ms. Lynch's class completed a unit on light energy this month! Using light and shadows, the students explored transparent, translucent and opaque objects and the effects of light. The students learned this by manipulating the light source's angle and direction as it shined on their opaque lego towers and observed the shape and size of the shadows being created.

They traced the shadows as they changed and discussed how their own shadows change depending on the time of day while in sunlight and why shadows change depending on the direction and angle of light.
