Ms. Sanford was a brave teacher conducting experiments with her students on Friday, November 13, but thankfully, all went smoothly! From learning how to light the burner for the first time to synthesizing magnesium oxide, the Chemistry 1 students explored and identified different types of chemical reactions. For their experiment, the Biology 2 students relied on some of their leftover Halloween candy to try and determine the difference in energy content between two substances. They analyzed the difference between baked and fried potato chips by setting up a calorimetry experiment - very neat!
