Altruism: Grammar Lemonade Project Updates

Pop-Up Zoom Dance Party with DJ Sunny

A big thank-you to DJ Sunny for leading our Grammar community in a pop-up Zoom Dance Party on May 1! Everyone brought their dancing shoes and had a blast. Check it out!

Altruism in Action

Everywhere we turn, there are Grammar community members giving back. Through our Altruism in Action initiative, we profiled some of these Grammarians to share their story of why they do the amazing things they do. Check out the interviews on our Grammar Lemonade Project page (scroll down and look on the left-hand side) or on our social media channels.

Thanks A Latte

Our Grammar community members came together as part of the #ThanksALatte Campaign in May support of Ronald McDonald House Atlantic and Adsum for Women, two of our charities of choice, to help make a difference during these difficult times. Families were encouraged to fill a jar with little hearts representing a dollar amount they would usually spend on a latte or a hot drink. Furthermore, Gordon Stirrett Wealth Management generously offered to match all donations made to this campaign up to a maximum of $1,100. In the end, a total of $3,300 was raised, meaning each organization will receive $1,650! Thank you to our generous Grammar community members for saying #ThanksALatte to these organizations for the important work they do.

Communal Hearts Project

We asked our Grammar community members to create their own version of a heart to continue spreading love to those who work on the front lines. All together, we created a beautiful community of hearts! These will be collected and delivered to front-line workers. Check out some of the wonderful creations below and check out this lovely video by Ms. Furey for some inspiration on the many ways you can create your heart over the summer. Don't forget to send to us at makelemonade@hgs.ns.ca.

Also, if you haven't checked out the Grammar Marketplace yet, click here to take a look and find out how you can support businesses that are owned or operated by members of the Grammar community.

Finally, stay tuned to our social media channels for a final project wrap-up video! We hope to see you again in the fall for more Lemonade Project initiatives including more webinars and bedtime stories with Headmaster Laffoley!
