Grammar Basketball teams win double gold at the 2019 Grammar Classic Tournament
Our Senior boys and senior girls varsity basketball teams both won the championship trophy in
this year's Grammar Classic. Each division featured four teams from around the Maritimes in a round robin format with the top two teams advancing to the championship game.
Participating teams:
Boys Division: Grammar, Riverview Rural High School, Colonel Gray High School, Charles P Allen High School.
Girls Division: Grammar, West Kings, Eastern Shore, Charles P Allen High School.
Our girls team finished 3-0 in the round robin, leading them to the championship game versus West Kings District High School from Berwick, NS. The Gryphons won an exciting back-and-forth match-up against the Wolverines by a five point margin of 54-49.
Our boys team also finished 3-0 in the round robin, facing off against Riverview Rural High School from Cape Breton in the final. After defeating Riverview by six points in a close game on Friday, the boys beat them again in the championship game with a score of 82-41.
The organizing committee would like to thank all of the student and parent volunteers who helped make this tournament a success. The spirit of the "Classic" is alive and well and everyone involved with our basketball program is grateful for the support from our school community.
Check out some action shots from the girls game and the boys game thanks to alumni parent Kim Turner.
